FROG® Filter Mate® (Formerly Filter FROG). The mineral sanitizer that cleans and softens hot tub water inside your filter cartridge. While you’ll add dichlor or bromine separately, you’ll need half the usual amount, because our FROG minerals are active sanitizers. The result is you kill bacteria two ways – with minerals and a low level of chlorine or bromine. We call it Fresh Mineral Water®∞ because it looks and feels amazing.

How to Lower Bromine Levels in a Hot Tub with FROG Serene®? 1. Remove the Bromine Cartridge from the spa. If the bromine level is over 4.0 ppm, remove the Bromine Cartridge and store in a safe place away from children, pets, metals or open flame until the level drops to 1.0 ppm. 2. Determine if the bromine cartridge setting is too high. When the bromine level has come down to 1.0 ppm, replace the cartridge in the spa at one setting lower than it was before. Test the water in 24 hours to determine if it has risen, declined or remained the same. Adjust the cartridge accordingly until 1.0 to 2.0 ppm is maintained. 3. Evaluate your spa usage. If the spa is not being used very often, then the need for bromine (bromine demand) is lessened. You may need to remove the system from the spa periodically to avoid continuous over bromination.

First, check to see if your SmartChlor Cartridge is empty. Remove the SmartChlor Cartridge from the system, drain all the water and shake to see if you hear any SmartChlor left inside. If your cartridge is not empty, then check your water balance.
