Kick-off your pool opening with ease! Doheny's Start-Up Kits are the perfect solution to have a clean and healthy pool right at the start of your season.
Before using your Doheny’s Start-Up Kit, there are a few steps that you need to take first to open your pool:
- Use a Doheny’s Cover Pump to siphon off all of the dirty water that is on your pool cover. This ensures that none of the dirty water gets into your pool, protecting it from harmful contaminants.
- While your pool cover is still on, pull all debris to one end of the pool and carefully remove it.
- Once your cover is clear of debris, remove all cover accessories such as cover clips and water tubes.
- Remove your cover and clean it as needed. Leave it out to dry in the sunlight, then properly store it.
- Brush any algae off your pool’s walls and use a Doheny’s Leaf Skimmer to remove any debris left in your pool.
- Clean out your skimmer baskets and main drain, then fill your pool to the desired water level. We recommend filling your water so that it’s level with the middle of your pool’s skimmer opening.
- Lastly, check all of your pool equipment to ensure that nothing was damaged over the winter. Replace or repair any damages before opening your pool.
Now it’s time to begin using your Doheny’s Start-Up Kit.
- Start by pouring in the full bottle of Doheny’s Metal Out. Let your water circulate for 2 hours.
- Next, pour in all bags of Doheny’s Super Shock and let your pool water circulate for 2 hours. Remember, always add chemicals to water and not water to chemicals.
- Pour in all bottles of Doheny’s Algaecide and let water circulate for 2 hours.
- Lastly, pour in all bottles of Doheny’s Water Clarifier and let water circulate for 2 hours. Once all of the chemicals have been added and circulated in your water, check your water chemistry with the test strips provided in each kit. Give the all clear to swim when your chlorine levels are around 1-3 ppm or after 24 hours have gone by.
