So you just received your complete above ground pool package from Doheny’s, or you are considering purchasing one, and you want to know how to install a pool in your backyard. With the guidance of the pros at Doheny’s, the process is very straightforward. Careful preparation and a little elbow grease will have you and your family on your way to a sun-soaked summer of poolside fun!

Choose A Spot For Your Pool

The first step in the installation process is to choose the perfect spot for your pool. A good location for a pool should be level and firm. Do not place a pool on top of asphalt or tar, septic tanks, underground wires, or gas lines.

Once you have chosen the perfect spot, you will need to prepare the area. All sod must be removed, then the area needs to be made perfectly level. This is done by finding the lowest point in the area, and digging out any higher spots to match it. Use a level or transit to make sure that the ground is perfectly level.

Assemble Your Pool

Now that the work of leveling your pool area is finished, you can begin assembling your pool. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and start with the bottom ring assembly and installation. Next you will pre-assemble the uprights and install the walls. After the walls are in place, the uprights can be installed.

Next, use sand or sifted earth to cover the entire pool area and create the 6-8” cove around the inside of the pool to protect the liner. Now your pool is ready for the liner. There are several different types of liners, so be sure to follow instructions for your particular type of liner. Once the liner is securely in place, the top rail and top cover are installed.

That’s it! The pool is ready for water and you are that much closer to enjoying a refreshing swim with your friends and family. Installing an above ground pool at your home is simple and fun, not to mention it will save you big money.
