How do I replace my existing pump with a Super Pump?
Read through this entire process before taking a crack at this one. Shut off the power at the breaker and confirm that the power is OFF. Open the back of your existing pump and remove the wires that are coming into the pump and the conduit connector that is screwed into the motor. Using a hacksaw, cut the pipe coming in and going out of the existing pump, but leave some pipe to glue on a coupling. Remove the existing pump and position your new Super Pump. Exciting!
You may need to raise up your new Super Pump to meet the incoming pipe. Mate up the incoming and outgoing pipes and use Teflon tape on threaded fittings and PVC glue on pipe fittings.
Connect your wiring into the back of the motor onto terminals L1 and L2. Connect the ground wire to the green ground screw.What wire size do I need for the Super Pump?
The wire size needed depends on which voltage you are using, but #14 wire works for most Super Pumps. If you need a wire for 115 Volts, you'll need a larger wire. See the chart in the owner's manual for specifics!What breaker size do I need for the Super Pump?

One method to connect all the steel components of your inground pool together with all of the electrical components is to use bonding by use of a bare copper wire. There is a bonding lug on top of the Super Pump to attach the No. 8 bonding wire.

Check to see if the Governor is stuck in the open position. Manually check to make sure the motor shaft can move freely. Open the capacitor.If the pump won't prime as expected...
Check the strainer housing to make sure it is filled with water and that the cover seals properly. Check to make sure all inlet and outlet valves are unobstructed. Check that the pool water level is above all inlet openings. Block the suction off as close to the pump as possible and check it the pump will develop a suction.
If the pump does not develop a vacuum and it has enough priming water, tighten all the bolts and fittings on the suction (inlet) side. Check the voltage to make sure the pump is up to the anticipated speed. Open the pump and take a look for any clogs or obstructions to remove. Remove and replace the shaft seal.
If the pump develops a vacuum, check the pump for a blocked suction line or blocked strainer and check for an air leak in the suction piping.If you've detected low flow...
..Check for undersized pool piping and clogged or obstructed strainer or suction lines. Take a discharge gauge reading- if it is high, check for plugged or obstructed discharge line of filter. Check for an air leak in the suction piping, which would present as bubbles issuing from the return fittings. Check the voltage to see if the pump is operating under speed. Check for a plugged or obstructed impeller.If your pump is noisy
Check for an air leak in the suction piping that could be causing a rumbling noise in the pump. Check for cavitation caused by an obstructed or undersized suction line or unrestricted discharge line. If practical, throttle the discharge line or correct the suction line. Check for vibration due to improper mounting. Check for foreign material in the pump housing. Check the motor bearings for rust, wear or continual overheating.
